Should I Use a Taxi, Rental Car, or Bus?

Don’t Have a Car? Don’t Worry!

Whenever you first land at an airport, you’re likely to experience an incredibly stressful moment that has nothing to do with flying. You grab your luggage and head for the door, eager to be outside and on your own two feet again after hours in a plane. But as soon as you step through those doors, you realize, you have no idea how to get away from the airport.

Whether you’re heading to a hotel, a conference centre, or the office, it can be a pain figuring out what service to use to get around after you’ve landed.

Renting a Car

It can be tough getting around without a car in the U.K., which is why many travellers choose to rent a car. Renting a car is one of the most freeing options as it gives you free reign to go wherever you want. This is an especially good choice for families on vacation with their children, as the long rides on public transportation are especially difficult for the kids. Plus, navigating a train station with your pups in tow is no walk in the park for the parents either.

However, it’s also one of the most expensive options, and if you don’t know your way around you’re liable to waste precious hours simply trying to navigate. Plus, those unfamiliar with driving in the U.K. will likely find themselves disconcerted driving on the left side of the road.

Taxi Service

The best way to get around in the U.K. Is using a taxi service. Uber is a service many people choose to get around, but you often end up with an amateur driver or a ride that you’re not exactly proud to arrive in. Uber’s main benefit is that it’s convenient, and its app is incredibly easy to use. Taxi companies saw this service gaining popularity, and they took notice. Many cab companies have their own apps, making your trip from the airport to wherever, easier than ever. Find an excellent Taxi service in your area to make your journey simple while riding in style.

Public Transportation

Public transportation in the U.K. Is wonderful. I’m using the term wonderful loosely here of course. Essentially, you can get wherever you need to go without too much trouble using public transportation. The only problem is time.

Buses and trains are reliable, but they can take quite a bit of time and often run late, and there’s a high chance of missing your bus because you’re unfamiliar with the routes and times. Public transportation is great if you’re passing through on vacation, but for business or time-sensitive journeys, they just don’t cut it. However, the low cost does make public transportation an excellent choice for regular commuters and younger travellers.

Getting around the U.K. without your own car can be a difficult task, but if you use the service that’s right for you, your travels will be free from worry.
